Luxury hotels in Helsinki (4-5 stars)
Helsinki has a good selection of upscale hotels, mostly situated in the absolute city center.
The following are our unbiased picks for the 4 and 5 star hotels you should consider when visiting Helsinki.
Hotel Kämp (Pohjoisesplanadi 29, Helsinki – 09 5840 9520, http://www.hotelkamp.com/) is the premium hotel of Helsinki and one of the two five-star hotels in the city. Hotel Kämp boasts its own spa, several quality restaurants, and its location is superb. If you are willing to pay the rate, you can’t go wrong with this one.
Slightly more reasonable than Kämp, you could stay at a Hotel Haven (Unioninkatu 17, +358 9 681 93, http://www.hotelhaven.fi/en), also five star, which has accommodated such visitors as Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria and Tibet’s spiritual leader Dalai Lama. Haven has 77 rooms, a premium restaurant and conference services.
Best Western Premier Hotel Katajanokka (Merikasarminkatu 1a, 09 686 450, http://www.bwkatajanokka.fi/) is an unique hotel, built in the building of the old Katajanokka prison and incorporating some elements of its grisly history. Slightly to the east of the city center, but good tranportation connections.
Crowne Plaza Helsinki (Mannerheimintie 50, 09 2521 0000, http://www.crowneplaza-helsinki.fi/) is rather large on Finnish standards, 349 rooms, and provides your non-surprising quality business hotel atmosphere in a central location.
Hotel GLO (Kluuvikatu 4, 010 3444 000, http://www.hotelglo.fi/), opened in 2007, is debatably at least a 4.5-star hotel, and with its modern design, the chic choice to stay at, right next door to Hotel Kämp.
Radisson Blu Royal Hotel (Runeberginkatu 2, 020 1234 701, http://www.radissonblu.com/royalhotel-helsinki) provides 262 rooms in the immediate vicinity of the Kamppi Center, and features above average conference facilities, of which the biggest one can fit 400 people.
