Exercise is one of the best ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Helsinki has many gyms and fitness centers to help residents and visitors stay active.
Some of Helsinki’s gyms can only be used by members, but others are open to the public. None of the gyms and fitness centers listed here require visitors to purchase a membership, so they are ideal for people visiting Helsinki for a short period of time.
In addition to the gyms listed below, some of Helsinki’s swimming halls and parks offer weightlifting rooms or gyms. Swimming Stadium, Liikuntamylly Gym, Maunula Sports Hall and Pirkkola Sports Park are a few of Helsinki’s public gyms.
Motivus Fitness Centres
There are four Motivus Fitness Centres in Helsinki and two in nearby Turku. Motivus also offers three women-only gyms in Helsinki and one in Turku. All of the Motivus Fitness Centres provide clients with state-of-the-art equipment, clean facilities and a variety of exercise classes. Combined, Motivus’ branches offer approximately 450 weekly classes including Pilates, Salsa and BodyCombat.
Motivus Fitness Centres do not require visitors to purchase memberships, although they are recommended for those who wish to save money. People who want to visit can purchase one or ten single-use tickets in addition to monthly, seasonal and annual passes. One-day passes are valid for a minimum of three months.
City Gym Fitness Center
City Gym prides itself on its commitment to providing guests with exceptional equipment. They are known for being honest and fair in business doings and do not require a contractual membership. Instead, guests can purchase card keys to be used for one, 10 or 20 visits or memberships for one, three, six or 12 months. City Gym also accepts Liikuntaseteli vouchers as payment.
City Gym is open from 5:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. during the week and from 7:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on weekends. The reception desk’s hours vary and can be checked online.
Töölö Gym is one of the best gyms in Helsinki for someone just beginning their quest for fitness. Each of Töölö Gym’s machines has clearly posted instructions detailing its proper use. Personal trainers are available to help guests learn which workout routine will give them the results they desire. Like the other gyms mentioned, Töölö Gym also has a solarium for those who want to maintain their tan year-round.
Visitors can purchase cards that are valid for one visit, ten visits, one month, three months, six months or a full year. BIC and TG Spin cards are sold providing access for one, ten or twenty visits, as well as for one, three or six months of unlimited access. Töölö Gym is open from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. during the week, from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays and from noon until 8:00 p.m. on Sundays.
