One of the best things that Helsinki offers residents and visitors is world-class dining. There are five restaurants in Helsinki that have been awarded a star-ranking from the prestigious Michelin Guide. One restaurant holds a two-star rating for excellent cuisine. The other four hold one star each and are viewed as superb restaurants worth a visit. The Michelin Guide has also given four restaurants in Helsinki the Bib Gourmand mention for exceptional value.
Chez Dominique – Two Stars
This restaurant, helmed by the renowned chef Hans Välimäki, specializes in combining Nordic and French cuisines. The kitchen expertly prepares traditional dishes with a modern flair. Chez Dominique, Finland’s only two-star restaurant, prides itself on using only the finest ingredients to create unforgettable meals.
Demo – One Star
This cozy restaurant is clearly one of the best Helsinki has to offer. With a seating capacity of only 45, Demo’s kitchen can consistently prepare exceptional cuisine. Demo is conveniently located in Punavuori and features a dressy-casual atmosphere.
Postres – One Star
Vesa Parviainen and Samuli Wirgentius opened Postress in the hip Eteläesplanadi. The interior of Postres is stylish and classy. One of the ways Postress garners attention is through its unique pairings of superb French cuisine with unconventional wine choices. This restaurant’s specialty is their delectable desserts.
Luomo – One Star
The intimate Luomo has seating for 30 and is located in Kruununhaka. Modern and innovative food is prepared in Luomo’s kitchen by the talented Mika Mattila and Jouni Toivonen. Luomo’s chefs draw inspiration from traditional meals to create their masterpieces.
Restaurant Olo – One Star
In addition to earning a Michelin star, Olo was chosen by The Observer as the restaurant serving the world’s best Nordic cuisine. This restaurant is continually noted for their high-quality meals. Restaurant Olo’s kitchen uses only seasonal, locally sourced ingredients to prepare their modern Nordic dishes.
Bib Gourmand Mentions
Helsinki’s Grotesk restaurant got its interesting name from its location in an old printing factory. Grotesk is also the name of a once-popular typeface. This restaurant is renowned for its superb wine list and delicious cuisine.
Farang’s speciality is asian fusion kitchen and the dining is something quite different compared to Chinese, Japanese and Thai restaurants found in every corner of Helsinki.
La Table, opened in September 2010, is specialised in Southern French cuisine. The prices are affordable and the atmosphere is relaxed.
The sophisticated and elegant Solna restaurant impresses diners with exceptional service. This bistro serves French cuisine and is located within walking distance of the popular Kalastajatorppa hotel and a short tram-ride from Helsinki’s city center.

Maybe there is a issue with the Style sheet here? I can’t read anything here without highlighting it with the mouse, due to the fact it’s all blue. I’m using Chrome if it helps.
Libbie, thanks for pointing it out! We had some issues with the Google Maps -setup, that might have caused the problems. It should be fixed now.
